Lit is considered one of the preeminent bands to have come out of the post-grunge era of the late 90's and helped define an entire generation of SoCal power punk with hard-charging hits like “My Own Worst Enemy,” “Miserable," "Zip-Lock,", and "Lipstick & Bruises." The band has released 6 worldwide studio albums, including their RIAA Certified Platinum A Place in the Sun, and they are currently writing and recording to release new material.

Barney Ford’s story is one of perseverance. Born enslaved, Ford advocated for his own freedom before beginning his new life. He endured fires, bankruptcy, and countless other hardships along the way. Yet, he always rebuilt and helped others while he did so. This presentation will cover Ford’s life, his time in Cheyenne, how he worked with the Underground Railroad and fought for other people’s rights—even while he was considered a “fugitive slave.” Come hear the remarkable life of Barney Ford—a man who refused to give up or accept the inequity in the world
around him.
