The Heart and Art of the Western Spirit Show

Yee-haw, Cheyenne! Frontier Days is here! And what better way to celebrate than by enjoying a spectacular showcase of western art, culture and heritage at the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Western Art Show and Sale?

What you’ll find at this showcase is a breathtaking collection of artwork across a variety of media, all telling the rich and rugged stories of the American West. Featuring more than 50 of the finest western and wildlife artists from across the country, this exhibition is organized by the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Old West Museum. Since its founding in 1981, the show has raised nearly $3 million to support the Museum’s ongoing mission of preserving and celebrating western heritage.

With such a wide range of artists on display, there’s truly something for everyone—whether you're drawn to bold brushstrokes, bronze sculpture, or cinematic portrayals of cowboy life. While we can’t highlight them all, here’s a quick look at what you can expect:

Bria Hammock – Contemporary Wilderness from Cheyenne

Among the featured artists is Cheyenne’s own Bria Hammock of Hammock Fine Art. A Contemporary Wilderness artist, Hammock blends traditional acrylic-on-canvas techniques with modern influences from graphic design and the vibrant flora and fauna of the West. Her work is known for its bold color palettes, expressive style, and fresh perspective on western life. Want a preview? Visit her online gallery at briahammock.com.

Linda Prokop – Bronze Sculptures with Heart

Also featured in this year’s showcase is sculpture artist Linda Prokop. According to her biography on the showcase website, Prokop, “focus(es) on themes of a nostalgic nature and emphasize depicting people and their relationships” and “derive(s) many of [her] works from simple everyday occurrences and as a result, have found the power of a universal connection.” She brings four bronze sculptures to this year’s exhibition—each one an invitation to pause, reflect, and feel. Prokop was recently honored by the City of Cheyenne with a commission to create two sculptures for the Art on the Corner Project, further solidifying her impact on the local arts scene. You can explore more of her work at lindaprokopfineart.com.

Brandon Bailey – Brushstrokes of the Cowboy Life

You’ll also find stunning oil paintings by artist Brandon Bailey. A Wyoming native, Bailey has been steeped in western culture since childhood—and even rode bulls for the Laramie County Community College team. As he puts it, “I figured if [I] can ride a two-thousand-pound wild farm animal, there is nothing [I] can't at least try to overcome.” His paintings swirl with light and color, capturing serene, cinematic moments of western life with every brushstroke. Keep an eye out for his work at the show—and explore more at bbaileyart.com.

Housed in the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Old West Museum, the Western Art Show and Sale Showcase is on exhibit from Friday, July 18 through Sunday, August 10. If you're craving a quiet and contemplative break from the rowdy rodeo festivities, be sure to meander over to the museum—conveniently located just outside the fairgrounds. And if you can’t make it in person (or want to take another look later), the artwork is also available for purchase online at cfdartshow.com.
