"Considering Matthew Shepard" presented by Cheyenne Chamber Singers - LCCC

Cheyenne Chamber Singers is honored to bring this Wyoming Story to Cheyenne during this 25th year since the events unfolded. This three-part fusion oratorio speaks with a fresh and bold voice, incorporating a variety of musical styles seamlessly woven into a unified whole. The music incorporates a wide range of poetic and soulful texts by poets including Hildegard of Bingen, Lesléa Newman, Michael Dennis Browne, and Rumi. Passages from Matt’s personal journal, interviews and writings from his parents Judy and Dennis Shepard, newspaper reports, and additional texts by Johnson and Browne are poignantly appointed throughout the work.

Spill the Tea for Trees - Hawthorn Tree

June 1, 2024 / 10:00am to 3:00pm/ Free

The day will kickoff with a relay race from 10am – 12pm where teams of four people will compete for the fastest time carrying a full cup of tea and transferring it from one cup to another while navigating an obstacle course of trees. There will be prizes for teams with the fastest time and least amount of tea spilled. Costumes are highly encouraged! Throughout the day, there will be raffle prizes, vendor booths, Rooted swag, and the restaurants on 17th Street will be selling food and beverages.
