Leadership of Cheyenne Bringing Hope, Justice, Courage and Truth to Cheyenne Through Art

The Leadership Cheyenne Class of 2022 goal was to provide a beautification project to Cheyenne that adds more vibrant culture to the city. The Leadership class choose to use proceeds raised from a successful fundraiser last October to commission four new murals that would represent the four sisters of Cheyenne - four angles representing the values of Truth, Justice, Courage and Hope. The original statues of the four sisters were added to the state Capitol in 2019 and remain there today in honor of 150 years of women’s suffrage in Wyoming.

It was Leadership Cheyenne’s responsibility to compile a list of businesses that were interested in such an opportunity, and met what the four sisters stand for. After receiving applications, the team whittled the list down to four businesses. The Central Plaza Hotel, Habitat for Humanity, Crossfit Frontier and VMAccel, a technology and cloud computing company in Cheyenne were choosen for the murals.

Local artist Jordan Dean was commissioned to design and create each of the murals, and his work has been incredible!

“What we all agreed upon was having murals in town that get everyone’s attention,” Matt Sturtevant said during a small Cheyenne Mural Project gathering. “They’re almost collectible. They’re a series of murals that benefit the businesses, that benefit the Chamber and benefit the community.”

This project is just one of many that Leadership Cheyenne classes have funded through their annual Boo-tification fundraiser.
