Cheyenne Frontier Days™: The Year of the American Indian

This year, Cheyenne Frontier Days™ (CFD) is proudly recognizing the Year of the American Indian. Celebrating Indigenous culture and the everlasting influence Native communities have had on Western America, CFD has also unveiled the new Morning Star American Indian Village. This new immersive experience pays homage to the Plains tribes and their contributions to Western history. This year-long celebration of the American Indian began in 2025 and has continued throughout 2026, all leading up to the 2026 Daddy of 'em All.

In October 2025, former Miss Frontier 2004 Tara Vreeland, the host of The Official Podcast of Cheyenne Frontier Days™, sat down with Mo Brings Plenty to discuss the impact of the Year of the American Indian, the relationship between CFD and American Indians, and more. You might recognize Mo Brings Plenty from the acclaimed Paramount series Yellowstone or as the Grand Marshal from CFD 2025's Grand Parade. His thoughts on the Year of the American Indian? He said it means everything to Western culture. It's a reminder that Western Heritage is still strong, alive, and beautiful. He thinks that the new village stands out because it maintains tradition, helps us understand cultural diversity, and is a place where living history is still alive.
