Building Tomorrow's Leaders, 2020 Mayor's Youth Council Sworn In
The Mayor's Youth Council, which is comprised of a select group of local high school students, were sworn in on Tuesday, December 17th at the City Council Chambers in downtown Cheyenne by Judge Ronn Jeffrey. Each year a select group of local high school students are chosen to learn about Cheyenne civic life, serve as leaders to their peers, and have a positive impact on their community.
This is the 19th year for the Mayor's Youth Council, and this year's group consists of 13 high school students. They will meet twice a month to talk with the mayor, and hear directly from city department heads. Along with learning all about city government, the students will decide on an initiative to take on that will have a positive impact on the city of Cheyenne.
The Council allows students not only to increase their knowledge about local government, but it also helps them develop leadership skills and gain more self confidence. Congratulations to the students newly sworn into the 2020 Mayor's Youth Council!
